First Stage Child Care Centres offers four facilities located in Toronto.
First Stage Child Care Centres has four sites located within Etobicoke. All of our locations are housed within Toronto District School Board facilities.
Using classroom observations and documentation in combination with the document “How Does Learning Happen”, Staff plan learning experiences and activities based on the developmental needs and interests of the children enrolled in their programs. Learning experiences are planned for both indoor and outdoor activities.
Each site has fully fenced playgrounds adjacent to the Centre. The playgrounds are checked on a daily basis by the staff, quarterly by TDSB and annually by a third-party inspector to ensure the utmost of safety. The playgrounds are equipped with various riding toys, balls, sand and sand toys as well as numerous additional learning materials to ensure an enriched learning experience for all children.
Each classroom is stocked with a large variety of materials and equipment to ensure enriched learning environments. Classroom areas include Dramatic Play, Block Play, Sensory Activities, Creative Art Experiences, Language and Literacy, Cognitive and Manipulative Area.
The Centre provides 3 snacks and lunch during the day. Menus are planned with the support of a Dietician to ensure meals and snacks are balanced and nutritious. Food allergies and Medical and/or Religious food restrictions can be discussed with the site Supervisor upon enrollment.
Each child has their own individual crib or cot for use during the daily rest period.
The Centres are inspected by:
· The Ontario Ministry of Education - Child Care Quality Assurance and Licensing on an annual basis.
All inspection reports are made available for the public to see.
